CORE THEMES

  • Reclaiming Our Stories: Explore the power of narrative and how the stories we tell shape our reality. We will explore how traditional narratives have disempowered women and the Earth, and how we can reclaim and rewrite these stories.
  • The Otherworld and Celtic Wisdom: We will delve into Celtic mythology, where women hold the “Cup of Wisdom” and possess a deep connection to the land. We will explore the concept of the Otherworld as a source of transformative power.
  • The Eco-Heroine’s Journey: Challenging the traditional “Hero’s Journey,” we will embrace the “Eco-Heroine’s Journey,” which emphasizes connection to the Earth, community, and personal transformation for collective change.
  • The Wasteland and Healing: We will acknowledge the “Wasteland” created by patriarchal dominance and environmental destruction, and explore pathways to healing and restoration.
  • The Power of Women: The introduction highlights that “Before there was the Word, there was the land, and it was made and watched over by women.” We will reconnect to this ancient knowledge.

“If women remember that once upon a time we sang with the tongues of seals and flew with the wings of swans, that we forged our own paths through the dark forest while creating a community of its many inhabitants, then we will rise up rooted, like trees. And if we rise up rooted, like trees … well then, women might indeed save not only ourselves, but the world. ~ Sharon Blackie
