Over time, yoga has spread across the globe, often adapted into a more physical practice. Yet at its heart, yoga is a healing modality, offering tools for regulating the nervous system, cultivating awareness, and restoring balance.

Therapy often begins in the mind—with words, insights, and reflection. While this is deeply valuable, many experiences of stress and trauma are held not only in thoughts, but also in the body and nervous system. Yoga therapy provides a bridge.

Many of our therapists are trained in yoga…If your therapist weaves yoga into your sessions, know that it doesn’t mean you’ll be rolling out a mat for a full class. Instead, it’s about gentle, accessible practices that support your therapeutic process. This may include:

  • Starting a session with a few grounding breaths.
  • Using gentle stretches to release tension during a difficult conversation.
  • Practicing mindful awareness of sensations to help process emotions.
  • Ending with a short guided meditation to integrate insights.
