Before beginning mushroom / psilocybin-assisted therapy, an initial screening is required by the State of Colorado to ensure that this therapeutic approach is a safe and appropriate option for you. This screening typically involves a thorough assessment of your mental and physical health, as well as a review of your personal history and any previous experiences with therapy or psychedelics. The goal is to understand your current needs, identify any potential risks, and ensure that you can undergo the experience safely. The screening may also include discussions about your motivations for seeking this therapy and any concerns or questions you might have. This step is essential to create a personalized plan that aligns with your goals and ensures that you receive the highest standard of care.

Ideally, we would begin working together prior to embarking on a psilocybin mushroom experience. Typically, there are a series of preparation sessions to build trust and relationship. A minimum of 2 prep sessions are required. We would work on intention setting and preparation. This can help to support your experience and bring more meaning into it. These intentions frequently come through organically in our work together. Often people say they want to let go of the control a past trauma has over them, they want to surrender, find their voice, step into their power, connect to parts of themselves that they have turned away from, or even connect to their ancestors. I frequently bring meditation, ritual and intuitive practices into this stage of therapy.

psilocybin mushroom session is an experience where you’ll journey inward with the support of mushrooms. The psilocybin is a natural psychedelic found in certain mushrooms. In a safe and supportive environment, you’ll take a carefully measured dose and you will be invited to open up to new perspectives and connect with your inner world. Guided by Dr. Laurel, who is a Licensed Facilitator, the session invites you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and consciousness. The overall experience lasts several hours, we often ask people to plan on 5-6 hours and to ensure they have a ride home. For most individuals, the effects of the mushrooms begin to reduce after 4 hours or so. The facilitation sessions will occur at Rose Healing Center.

We will continue our work together after your mushroom experience by processing any important insights or learnings that came through. In this stage of work together, you are integrating the lessons that came up. You are moving the insights into the reality of changed behavior. You may also identify key themes to explore in our work together. For example, you may find that you have been choosing how to live your life based on what other people think you should do, instead of what your heart and soul are calling for. Sometimes in integration, the learnings are more tangible, such as, “I need to connect in nature more often”. One integration session is mandatory and included in the prices of the Mushroom Journey.

For the journey day (administration of the medicine day): if you need to cancel after booking for any reason with any amount of notice, there is a $250 cancelation fee. “In every walk with nature one receives far more than she seeks.” ~ John Muir

In 2022, the State of Colorado passed the Natural Medicine Health Act which allows Licensed Natural Medicine Healing Centers to administer psilocybin mushrooms and Licensed Facilitators to sit with people during a psychedelic mushroom experience. As a Licensed Natural Medicine Facilitator, Dr. Laurel can support you in the preparation before, the mushroom session and the integration after a psychedelic experience. Our other therapists are all trained in psychedelic assisted therapy and can support you in preparation and integration of psychedelics.
